Header image alignment

I used to use a very old version of Water and recently updated. Unfortunately, something changed and now my header image, rather than aligning right, now aligns in the center. Therefore, it does not display correctly, as the right side of the header image is meant to be flush with the right side of the page.

Suggestions?

I really like the 'Water' theme. It's neat and nice. I want to thank Fallen Tsubasa and Undersigned for designing it. It's just brilliant.

I just wanted to know if your team could make a Blogger friendly version of this theme.

If not, is it okay if I could use your Wordpress theme to make a Blogger theme??? (I'll add your teams to the credits.)

I am really interested in using it. I guess even other Bloggers would try it out.

Water 1.5 Survey

Hello all!

I am (finally) done modifying 1.5 to a point where I can add more options, modify the theme, and etc. Contrary to the Water 1.5 Blueprints post, I am going to take the input of the users of the theme. There are a lot of things Syaoran and I planned, but I feel that with only the two of us the decision would be too hasty and might end up upsetting the current users of Water.

CSS issues

My post features an image that is right justified with text wrapped around it. In any other theme it will wrap properly. In this theme the image is on top of the post with text below it.

Hi there.

Just started using Wordpress and came across your theme which fits great for what I'm looking for. However I think I've found a bug.

When I create a page/post and place an image in it, I can't get text to wrap around the image. There is just a load of space left to the side depending on if I align right or left. If I change the theme back to default then the alignment works fine.

Hope you can help.

Release of 1.4.5

This release is a maintenance release from the 1.4 series. Water 1.5 is looming not to far in the future but, this bug fix is still good to have. In 1.5, there will be quite a few purged features that seems redundant to have as there are plugins that have it.

Some features that were removed in 1.5 have almost nothing to do with the theme's layouts and etc so it was removed and we are debating whether or not to shove it into plugin(s) and release it as a separate feature.

Making Pages not show its categories and date.

Dropdown Menu problem

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes...

The dropdown menu in the header - I have a blog that I moved to WP, and am using water theme which I'm modifying (my first foray into WP, so I'm just winging it here). Anyway, we have a lot of archives - in IE7 the part of the dropdown menu that drops over the sidebar or the main page (drops past the header area) doesn't work. When I get my mouse down that far, the menu just disappears. Also get an error message when I try to get the RSS in IE7 (don't know if that has anything to do with the theme, or with something else). Both dropdown menu and RSS work fine in FF.

BTW, would love to see a archive dropdown that archived by year, and then popped out a submenu for the months.

Great theme - the first I've tried in WP. Thanks!

List image for sidebar generator

So let's say you don't have a good image editing software/don't wanna do things the 'hard' way, but you understand HTML color hex codes. Well, I made a thing to make the list image replace colors so that I can make a new li image really fast.

What is the li image? This thing:

For the input box, just input the HTML hex code and voila, the image'll be made. Simple right?

Need of new options layout, options to move tag lines in the upper right corner of header image or on lower right side of header image. Better descriptions for options and purge of obsolete ones through overall approval. Addition of color change needs to be added and a 3 column layout must be emulated within the theme. A tweak to the post and comment layout must be done to make the gravitar look nicer for sizes over 32 px.

*Edit: A feature where there is an option to make the blog display only your latest post and everything else is unviewable until logged in. This can be used for tighter security and it can also be stylish. Also, the footer problem needs to be fixed, when there are no posts and the sidebar only contains a few things like a meta, the footer will move up on the page making it look weird.

Any suggestions, you should submit them so that we can decide to implement them into the theme.

The Release of 1.4.4.1

The latest release with a must upgrade to tag on it. Not only does it have many fixes but, the most notable change within the update is the Version Checker tab. It has a new layout that shows if the water version is up to date and the changelog of the latest released version. A CSS save error solution was added into the theme but, it is not noticeable unless there is a save error. There was also a purge of obsolete features and it certainly won’t be the last that it will happen. A custom CSS box was added so that you can add whatever css feature you want without going into the file and add to it.

In the next version, we have currently planned a 1 and 3 column version integrated into the theme as well along with a purge of useless features and better descriptions that anyone can understand. A new options panel will also be in the next version. These planned features might change depending on the circumstances.

Edit: The release of 1.4.4 was skipped as we were thought that our theme was up to wordpress' standard when we tried to have them host. We fixed that problem in the release of 1.4.4.1 so, basically 1.4.4 was skipped and the major thing you will notice is the tag that was added.

Changing how Post + Comment Dates are formatted

Say you don't like how the date looks; i.e. you don't like it as:
December 31, 1969 - 6:00 PM or December 31, 1969 | 6:00 PM

Well, it can be changed.

Open:
inc/global.php

For posts, find:

        $format = 'F j, Y - g:i A';

        $extra  = 'g:i A';

For comments, find:

        $format = 'F j, Y | g:i A';

        $extra  = 'g:i A';

The F j stuff is basically how the date is formatted if it's more than two days old. I can't really give a big tutorial on what each means, so you'll have to find out yourself in here.

$extra is the part for when the post was made today or yesterday; the hour, minute, and AM/PM.

Find this to mess with the Today/Yesterday part:

Change Today or Yesterday to something else.

If you do not want to show "Today" or "Yesterday", just replace the following text in your inc/global.php:

AJAX Comments fading time.

So starting from Water 1.4.3, the Comments fades in and out. Though, some people might not like the amount of time in which the fading in + out takes. To change this, go to inc/comments.js

For the time where the comments are being removed, find:

You see the bolded part? Well, change that bolded portion to whatever microsecond you want. 500 means .5 of a second.

For the time where comments are shown, find:

Quote:opacity(1, 100, 800, 1);

Similar to the above one, right? Just change the bolded portion to whatever microsecond you microsecond you want.

After you changed the comments.js, save it and upload it to your webhost. The changes should be applied now.

CSS saving error

If you tried to save some changes you made to the theme and for some reason, it gave an error saying that your CSS options could not be saved but the settings were saved, then here is the solution to fix this. You can CHMOD/change the file attribute of the style.css file in the water theme folder to 666 to fix this.

For those who don't know how to CHMOD/change the file attribute to 666, here are a list of steps that can help you.
1) Use your FTP client to connect to your web host
2) Go into the directory wp-content/theme/water/style.css
3) Right click the style.css file and click File Attributes
4) Change numeric value to 666 or check all the Read and Write boxes for Owner, Public and Group but, not check the Execute boxes

How can we make the settings page better?

It's been bugging me quite a lot lately that the settings page is cluttered with options, but graphically it doesn't look that appealing nor is it really clear.

What I would like input on:
- How to make the "Settings" page link more revealing so people who aren't familiar with WordPress will see it.
- A picture [template]/site [i.e. various ones to combine the ideas of]/etc. where I can kinda make the setting's page look more 'neat'.
- Someone to make better descriptions for each setting.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Water 1.4.3 Announced

Water 1.4.3 contains bug fixes the incorrect time issues and various other bugs. If there are any other bugs within the theme currently, please report the bugs you have found so it can be fixed right away.

Releasing many themes within a short time does annoy people that want an up to date theme constantly with all these releases so we've decided to make releases with as many bugs found as possible.
